Mr. Eberhard van der Laan, Mayor of City of Amsterdam and delegation visits Shenzhen

Accompanied by Consul General Mrs Anne Luwema and a delegation, Mr. Eberhard van der Laan, Mayor of city of Amsterdam, paid a courtesy visit to Mr. Lv Ruifeng, the Executive vice Mayor of city of Shenzhen on 29 August 2011, during the delegation of Amsterdam’s visit in China.

Mr. Lv welcomed Mr. van de Laan and the delegation by giving an introduction of the city of Shenzhen, from a wide range of fields and business affairs Shenzhen has actively involved and achieved. Mr. Lv went on to say that the bilateral exchange between Shenzhen and the Netherlands has been frequent and constantly increasing. He gave an example of the Netherlands participation in the 26th Universiade in Shenzhen by sending an excellent athlete delegation.

Mr. Eberhard van der Laan thanked Mr. Lv for his hospitality by expressing his compliments and admiration to city of Shenzhen for its incredible growth and development within the last decades. He said it is impressive that Shenzhen’s achievement from a small fishing village 30 years ago and now a metropolitan city with its name world known, in many aspects especially on hi-tech and innovation industries.

During the visit, the view is shared that further enhancement of the bilateral exchange and development between the two cities is mutually beneficial by learning from each other for their respective advanced experiences.
